Heterochaeta orientalis, commonly known as the Cat-Eye Mantis or Giant African Stick Mantis, is one of the most striking and largest mantis species in the world. Native to East and West Africa, it is famous among hobbyists for its "feline" facial features and incredible stick mimicry.
They are truly giants. Females can reach up to 15–20 cm (6–8 inches), while males are slightly smaller at around 12–15 cm.
They are generally docile and "communal-friendly." Unlike many mantis species that will eat their siblings on sight, H. orientalis can often be kept together if provided with enough space and food.
Note: We never advise keeping any mantis species together - do so at your own risk.
